The Yantai-Dalian railway ferry includes four projects: railway transportation, road transportation, maritime transportation and maritime safety supervision. It runs through the Bohai Strait and the transportation is very convenient. The whole project requires a new railway lead of 34.35 kilometers and a sea transportation distance of about 86.28 nautical miles (159.8 kilometers).

This project adopts the "dry method" construction technology, the ferry terminal is 200.77 meters long, the terminal adopts reinforced concrete caisson gravity type along the bank structure, the caisson concrete strength grade and frost resistance grade are C40F300, a total of 22 caissons. The caissons play a huge supporting role in the ferry terminal. Each weighs 350 tons, is 10.6 meters long and 9.5 meters high. The completion of the caissons also marks the "conquest" of the difficulties and key parts of the terminal construction ". After the dock is officially put into use, most of the caissons will be submerged by sea water.

Yantai-Da Railway Ferry Port Project was awarded the 2008 China Construction Project Luban Award and the 8th China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award.
